February is here, bringing cold days and snow (at least to the Northeastern part of the USA). The bright side to that is that snowy days make for good days to sip hot beverages while playing your favorite MMOs. This month, we have MMO news on Guild Wars 2 and Elder Scrolls Online.
Guild Wars 2 Releases Episode 4 of Season 3’s Living Story
February 8th saw the launch of the fourth episode of Guild Wars 2’s Living Story, Season 3. Entitled Head of the Snake, players will continue to politically combat the White Mantle in Kryta while assisting Queen Jennah. The update also introduces a new Raid (Bastion of the Penitent) and new Legendary Weapon (rifle) into the game. There’s also a huge amount of reworks, tweaks and bug fixes to Fractal Dungeons, open world content, pre-existing raids, and structured PVP. You can check out the trailer for Head of the Snake in the clip below:
Elder Scrolls Online: Homestead Expansion Out Now
It’s been a long time coming, but player housing is finally live in ESO. This month, Homestead added this massively requested feature into the game for free, and it didn’t do anything by halves. Players can now pick between almost 40 unique types of home, starting from a small room at the local inn to an entire manor estate in the Rift. Though each home is styled along the lines of one of ESO’s 10 playable races, characters can purchase any type of home they wish, regardless of their race. The only exception to this is that the Imperial Style homes require the player has access to the Imperial Edition of the game. Homes are account-based and players can own multiple homes, which all of their characters will have access to.
There are two types of homes: unfurnished (many of which are purchasable for in-game gold or Crowns, the real money currency) and furnished (only available for Crowns). All types of home can be decorated with furniture and decorations (over 2,000 total), which can be gained from either in-game merchant purchases, the Crown Store, or crafted via the existing trade skills. Veteran Arenas, Dungeons, and Trials will even award trophies that you can hang in your new home. Like any good Housing system in an MMO, players will be able to set permissions on their home and will be able to travel to it with ease. Houses are instanced and other players are not able to break into people’s homes and steal things. Even players that you decide to grant “decorator” privileges in your home cannot add or remove items from it.
Though I’m not current playing ESO, I’m very glad to see Zenimax Online has finally implemented this hot feature. It looks very fleshed out, and I’m sure the player community will have a lot of fun with it.
Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind Announced and Dated
Yes, you’re reading correctly: ESO gets two stories this month! It’s a good time to be an ESO player, because not only did one of the most highly anticipated features just get added to the game (Housing), but an expansion was also announced at the end of January.
Entitled Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, the expansion will introduce the island of Vvardenfell, the Warden class, a new Trial, and a new PVP mode. Vvardenfell will add another 30+ hours of game content, explorable at any level thanks to the One Tamriel update that went live last October. The Warden will be a nature-based class and the first ESO pet class, always accompanied by a War Bear. The new Trial (12-person dungeons) will be set at the Telvanni Tower of Tel Fyr while the new PVP mode in the Ashlands will offer 4v4v4 arena combat across three different maps. Not many other details are currently available for the expansion, but there will surely be a lot more revealed between now and June. Until then, check out the announcement trailer below:
Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind is set to release June 6th, 2017 on all of its current platforms. There will be four different versions (Standard, Upgrade, Digital Collector’s, and Physical Collector’s), ranging from $40 to $100. Pre-ordering any of them will grant the player access to the Discovery Pack on the expansion's launch.
That wraps it up for this month. Are you currently making your way through Guild Wars 2’s Living Story? Have you tried out Homestead in ESO? Were you excited to hear about ESO: Morrowind? Let us know in the comments below!
