Happy 2019, everyone, and welcome to another year and issue of MMO Co-Opportunities. In this issue, we’ll be overviewing a new episode for Guild War 2’s Living Story, Anniversary gifts for DC Universe Online, and Ragnarok M: Eternal Love’s open beta.
Guild Wars 2’s Living Story Continues with Season 4: Episode 5
Last week, Episode 5 of Guild War 2’s fourth season of its Living Story launched for players. Entitled All or Nothing, this episode introduced a new fractal dungeon (Siren’s Reef), a new Legendary Longbow (Pharus), a new mount Mastery (Bond of Faith), and a new zone (Thunderhead Peaks). The new zone introduced a new storyline as well as new recipes for the craftable Dragonsblood weapons. The story focuses on the Commander (the player character) heading towards the final showdown with Elder Crystal Dragon Kralkatorrik.
All or Nothing is currently free for all GW2 players who own the Path of Fire expansion. In the past, Living Story episodes have remained free until the release of the next episode, after which previous episodes must be unlocked with Item Shop currency. You can check out the trailed for the episode below.
DC Universe Online Celebrates its 8th Anniversary with Player Gifts
DC Universe Online is celebrating its 8th year this month, and it’s doing it by giving out some free gifts to its players. From now until January 31st, 2019, anyone who logs into the game client will receive a free CR210 Character Advance. This CR (or “Combat Rating”) advancement can be applied to one of your pre-existing characters or to a brand new one. In addition to the CR boost, the Character Advance comes with the House of El 2019 gear suit, an Artifact Starter Pack, an Exobyte Cache, Episode 30: Earth 3, ~85 skill points, and a bag of consumables.
If you’re a member (which means a monthly subscriber), you can get even more free stuff. Members who log onto the game by January 31st also receive the Member Appreciation Gift box. This box contains a Member Gift Artifact Cache (which lets you pick one artifact out of fourteen), Nth Metal, Marks of Victory, and the brand new Brainiac Lair Theme.
In addition to the free gifts, until the end of the month, all players can play up to and through Episode 32 for free. This excludes the Atlantis episode (Episode 33).
Ragnarok M: Eternal Love Now in Open Beta
Long-time MMO players may remember a popular sprite-based MMO called Ragnarok Online, which launched in North America in 2003. Ragnarok M: Eternal Love is a mobile sequel to that popular game, and it recently opened its open beta doors to North American players. Promising an authentic Ragnarok Online mobile experience, the game offers 10 jobs, 40 maps, guilds, pets, cooking, unlockable emojis and character poses, and more. I’m assuming there will also be lots and lots of hats, because we all know that’s what RO was really about.
Ragnarok M: Eternal Love can currently be downloaded onto Android or Apple devices through the Google Play or App Store, accordingly. You can check out the game’s trailer below.
That wraps it up for this first issue of 2019. What are you playing in this new calendar year?
