This story isn't exactly hot off the presses, but developer Hazelight Studios has revealed that their latest co-op game, It Takes Two, is aiming for release on March 26th of this year. That means you have just under two months to wittle down your group of friends/family/significant others to just one ideal co-op partner. You'll probably have to make some hard cuts, but I have faith you'll make the right decision in the end.
In case you're unfamiliar, It Takes Two will be the third game falling under the purview of former film director Josef Fares. His first release, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, was released to critical fanfare in 2013. Following that, he went on to form Hazelight Studios, who put out the co-op jailbreak title, A Way Out, in 2018.
Fares is now back with a more whimsical project focusing on a couple who's been magically transformed into a pair of dolls. Check out the reveal trailer from the 2020 Game Awards for a look at some gameplay.
It Takes Two may be different in tone and setting from A Way Out, but it maintains Fares' dedication to two player co-op mechanics. Just like its predecessor, the game will feature no single player option, meaning the only way to play is with a partner. It's also been revealed that It Takes Two will take advantage of the Friend's Pass program, which allows two players to enjoy the game using only a single purchased copy.
Once released, It Takes Two will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
