SEGA Vintage Collections Rolling Out This Week and Next

Soon we'll be busting heads with Axel, Axe Battler,

May has been a terrific month for fans of classic SEGA games. First Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II launched last week on multiple systems.  Now four retro collections bearing the 'SEGA Vintage Collections' label are coming exclusively to Xbox Live Arcade over the next two weeks (sorry PS3 users). This Wednesday, the single-player Monster World Collection and Alex Kidd & Co. Collection debut at 800 Microsoft Points a piece. On May 30, they will be followed by Golden Axe Collection and Streets of Rage Collection for the same price.

The full XBLA Sega Vintage Collection lineup:

    Release Date: 5/23

    Monster World Collection (800 MSP)

    • Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Arcade)
    • Wonder Boy in Monster World (Genesis/Mega Drive)
    • Monster World IV (Genesis/Mega Drive)

Alex Kidd & Co. Collection (800 MSP)

    • Super Hang-On (Arcade)

Achievement hunters take note: while the two co-op collections feature 400 GamerScore worth of Achievements, the May 23 releases only pack 200 a piece. In case you missed our previous article on the Golden Axe and Streets of Rage Collections, each game includes the following enhancements: slick 3D interfaces (see above), widescreen borders, online multiplayer, and other new extras.

Both Golden Axe Collection and Streets of Rage Collection feature online or offline co-op for 2 players. Check out a selection of new Streets of Rage co-op shots below.
