 Re: Borderlands
What do you say PS3 owners? Who is going to get this game for the PS3? I'm very interested in this title. Lots of great opportunity for Co-op and it looks like it’s a game that you could play for a long long time. Split screen co-op, multiple classes of characters, leveling, a bazillion gun variations, 4 player online co-op, even LAN play is planned.
I've read that certain areas of the world randomize themselves to keep things fresh when traveling through them, and then there are special areas where you can go to fight certain bosses over. So you could go replay those epic battles that you have already conquered. (Also good for leveling and trying to get more rare loot/guns-possibly to share with a buddy)
Its not all just broken down desert dunes either there are other environments you will be visiting in game.
Anyway, looks fun. Anyone thinking of getting this for the PS3?

 Re: Borderlands
It does seem pretty cool. It reminds me a lot of Fallout with the whole FPS/RPG combo.

 Re: Borderlands
I am interested in this game and MUA 2 for local co-op, Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 for online multiplayer, and Batman and Dragon Age for single player. I may buy 2 or 3 of these games before the end of the year

I hope that they end up implementing the split screen + online play like Resistance 2 had. One thing that will likely impact me and getting this game and/or playing it with any sort of regularity is the fact that my wife and I are due to have our baby early november which could end up hitting in October. Money and time are tight lately, and i'm sure thats only going to get more crazy once we have the baby. Its worth it though, I'm excited to have a baby. Hopefully this game will meet the hype and our expectations and be a lot of fun. Drop in drop out play should make it easy to just hop in and out of friends games without negatively impacting things, and also make it easier to just join up without a lot of planning needed.

Yes, if borderlands had split-screen combined with online multiplayer, borderlands would have been a sure buy; however now I will wait and see how this game compares to others. I think MUA will have the ability of combining couch co-op with online co-op, so I will be more inclined to buying this one. Playing R2 was always fun. We should play one of these days again. Maybe next week? I managed to convince a friend to buy R2, so he might also be able to join. blakepro wrote: One thing that will likely impact me and getting this game and/or playing it with any sort of regularity is the fact that my wife and I are due to have our baby early november which could end up hitting in October. Congratulations. I hope everything goes well. Please extend my congratulations to your wife.

 Re: Borderlands
Thanks Biohzrd451, Yeah, its our first. Thanks for the congrats. We are having a boy. Player 3 perhaps? Also, thanks Seshat and smurphster on the congrats! To Seshat: MUA looks like an awesome game for comic fans. I'm not into brawlers much, but it could be fun. I honestly dont know much about the game other than its a comic book lovers dream come true or something... Yeah, we'll have to play some Resistance 2 superhuman mode sometime soon. Uh oh, smurphster has realized my plot to get the PS3 owners excited about borderlands so I have people to play with! You 360 owners are welcome to post your awesome info and thoughts on the game here too. So, Borderlands is looking like a ton of fun. I wonder if they are planning any sort of demo, or multiplayer beta.

 Re: Borderlands
I usually purchase a couple of games around Decemberish, when Toys r Us does the "buy x amount get one free" deals. I know I will definitely be picking up Uncharted 2 and NHL 2010, but I dont know about a third. Borderlands looks interesting, and is one of my options so far.

Belated (AND premature! <g>) congrats, Blake!
And yeah, Borderlands looks like it could be pretty awesome -- definitely on my watch list.

And yeah, Borderlands looks like it could be pretty awesome -- definitely on my watch list. Thanks! Yeah, now I'm debating on if I want this game on the PS3 or the xbox360. Seems like there are more xbox players here and that sometimes xbox gets patches faster, but at the same time, it would be nice to be able to have as many local friends as I want playing the game without having to pay for xbox live accounts. (if it does end up allowing couch + online play) Might have to take a wait and see approach. I like the PS3 controllers better.

 Re: Borderlands
Yeah Blake, I saw your 360 gamertag and assumed you got yourself a 360. I agree with you...I feel that the 360 does indeed have a larger online community. I would love to get a 360 someday just for that reason, since many of my friends, as well as most of the community here, have 360s.
However, if I did get one, I would be in the same predicament as you, trying to decide which system to get games on. Then again, if I did get one, my fiancee would probably kill me, since I already have a PS3 and a Wii...

Then again, if I did get one, my fiancee would probably kill me, since I already have a PS3 and a Wii... Yeah, my wife wouldnt have let me get it either since we have a wii and ps3 as well... But I also had all of my old game systems and all their games (game boy, gameboy color, gameboy advanced, N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast) and I traded in practically all of it to Play n Trade with a membership that gets me an extra 10%. (I know that there are ways to get more money, but this is by far the easiest, fastest way, and I dont have a lot of spare time to sell it off on my own) Anyway, I now have a lot of extra space and $730 credit so there is room, and it doesnt impact our finances at all, so my wife is being very open to the idea of getting an xbox 360. I think she is just glad to get rid of all those old games and systems that I dont play any more. I actually dont have the system yet. I just signed up for a free xbox live silver membership on xbox.com to reserve my name. I'm waiting to see if that price drop happens this sunday. It is going to be hard to decide what system to get games like borderlands on because there are certainly advantages to each system and I also remember wishing more people would get the ps3 versions of games when I only had the PS3. My brother also only has a PS3, so there is some incentive for me to get the PS3 versions of games I think he may play.

 Re: Borderlands
I'm kinda torn -- this month is absolutely ridiculous, what with Uncharted 2 and Ratchet & Clank on top of other must-try games, but I guess I'll bump it to the top of my Gamefly queue if some of you are going to be playing it. I just mailed Demon's Souls back, so if they have an available copy, I should get it soon.

 Re: Borderlands
I'm completely torn, I'd rather get it on PS3 because it's hooked up via HDMI, and my 360 is VGA since it doesnt support HDMI on the old premium models. That and my gold acct is only for a couple more weeks, and my 360 is acting up lately, which I'm very nervous about. I just don't think a whole lot of people are going to be going the PS3 route on this one which is the only factor I'd say is making me want it on the 360. I guess I'll find out come about a month 1/2 when the old lady gets it for me for christmas. Maybe I can talk her into getting me it early.

 Re: Borderlands
I'm waiting on GameFly... Hopefully it ships this week. It was listed as shipping today the 19th. But, when I checked this morning it was bumped back to it's 20th release date. GF may have gotten their copies later than expected.

 Re: Borderlands
Yeah, I just checked my queue and its still listed as the 10/20 release. When I got Uncharted 2 last week they claimed they shipped it Monday (even though the PO was closed due to Columbus Day.) I guess for whatever reason they are sitting on it for an extra day. How sad...
