The Co-Op Experience

In Surgery, the player must save a patient using a number of tools to take care of hemorrhages, tumors, cuts and foreign objects while keeping the patient's vitals above 0. In multiplayer, the tools are distributed amongst the two players, allowing each player to concentrate on specific tasks.

Description

The overall plot of the game begins several years prior. Albert Sartre, a virology researcher, adopts a young girl with a virulent pathogen in her bloodstream. The pathogen is essentially a virus that destroys other viruses. Believing he had stumbled across a possible cure for all known disease, he moves to a remote area of Mexico to study the virus. The limiting factor is that, after the pathogen destroys all other viruses in the host, it will then attack healthy tissues like a regular virus, mimicking hemorrhagic fever. Following several years of failed studies, he is accidentally exposed, and in a fit of psychotic rage, he murders his adopted daughter, before fleeing and eventually perishing on the outskirts of Massachusetts. Despite his efforts though, the girls blood was absorbed, along with the virus, by a bed of flowers she died in, which mutated them to carry the virus, which was then carried by monarch butterflies across the country.
