With the February 13, 2019 update, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker now offers two different co-op experiences.
Partner Adventure - A second player assumes the role of another Toad and plays alongside Captain Toad (player 1). The second player has all the same abilities as Captain Toad, i.e., they can pull plants from the ground, throw turnips at enemies, use the mattock, etc. Each player can also rotate the camera, however, Player 1 takes precedence. All story progress is saved to Player 1's account.
Assist Mode - A second player joins the adventure as a floating cursor. While one player controls Captain Toad, the other can assist with things like shooting enemies or gathering coins. All story progress is saved to Player 1's account.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, which originally launched for Wii U, is coming to Nintendo Switch. The new version includes new miniature courses based on various Kingdoms in the Super Mario Odyssey game. Assist Captain Toad as he makes his way through each level to collect the stars.
