It's been some time since we've heard anything about Dead Nation, a top down zombie shooter from the developer of Super Stardust HD. But new information has come to light for the game, and it's all good news for co-op gamers. Not only is the game getting an additional weapon upgrade system, it's getting co-op improvements.
Originally Dead Nation was slated to launch with only offline co-op available, it appears that online was actually never in the cards. Thankfully, developer Housemarque have put in overtime hours just so the game could launch with both online and couch co-op play. A simple as it sounds, it was no easy task.
Originally, online co-op wasn’t going to be included as a launch feature, as the schedule and resources didn’t allow it. However, after many late night play testing sessions and long talks with Sony Computer Entertainment, we decided that this was a must-have feature and it would be unfair to you if we launched without it! At this point, our coders went from working 12 hour days to working 16 hour days as well as weekends!
Yup - a "must have feature." We like the sound of it. In fact, we liked the sound of it so much we needed to talk to the man responsible for making it happen - Ilari Kuittinen, CEO of Housemarque. We needed to know - was this purely a business decision or was it because they felt it was a feature the game needed?
