Words cannot describe how surreal, how unnerving, and how entertaining the launch trailer for A Fistful of Gun is. I mean, live action gunslingers standing in the desert wearing huge paper mache heads. What else could you possibly want?!

Of all the settings (both real and fictional) to justify the use of the terms "Bullet Hell" and "Shoot Em Up", I'd say the Wild West ranks pretty high.  Though A Fistful of Gun doesn't seem to map directly onto either of those genres, its combination of the two makes me wonder if there's even another contender for "Most Viable Setting".  Of course, these types of games have begun flooding the market as of late, so what makes AFoG so enticing?

A few years back, developer FarmerGnome released a freeware game called A Fistful of Gun. The top-down shooter was inspired by classic NES-era shooters like Gun.Smoke, updating the bullet-heavy action for modern players who demand more shooting, more things to shoot, and more close-ups of mustachioed protagonists.
