New Bodycount Dev Diaries Talk About the Demo and Co-op

The latest videos for Bodycount focus on the demo, multiplayer, and co-op modes.  Like the previous entries, they feature the dev team in some dilapidated warehouse.   I hope that's not their office.  It's rather gloomy.  The demo is, well a demo.  You can try out Bodycount's lean mechanic and faux iron sights.  They take a second to get used to, but it's an interesting new aiming method.  The co-op is a two player "siege mode" where you battle waves of enemies with ever-decreasing cover.  One of Bodycount's unique features is the game's cover shred mechanic, and it should be a prominent factor throughout all game modes.

Latest video from the YouTube film maker is sponsored by Codemasters.

Freddie Wong Joins the Bodycount

I've talked about Freddie Wong before on Co-Optimus, the YouTube film maker creates slick action shorts around some subject and loads them up with special effects.  His work has attracked the likes of John Favreau, Kevin Pollack, and Andy Whitfield who have all appeared in a short.  One of my favorite scenes he put together was one called "Flower Warfare."

Bodycount Developer Diary Part 2, Plus Some Co-Op Info

This is part two of the Bodycount: Behind the Bullets developer diary.    Like the previous entry, the video is a mishmash of cuts and smash cuts, aided by some snazzy sound effects.  The way the whole thing is shot and edited is rather silly, but it does have some nice nuggets of information. The developers discuss the differing environments, character design inspiration, and enemy AI.  There are some juicy bits of gameplay footage near the end, be sure to check it out.

Semi-iron sights?

New Dev Diary for Bodycount

This four minute video from the creators of Bodycount is all about the guns.  As you'll see in the clip below, the developers aren't trying to bring a million weapons to the table.  They're focused on a few guns, and "polished the hell out of them."   The firearms look and sound great.  Environments absolutely shred beneath the barrage of bullets you can unleash.  The shotgun is a total beast.  One thing really stood out to be in this video: the apparent lack of iron sights.  They call it both a "semi-iron sight" mode and a "focus" mode.  I don't know what FPS players will think of this feature.  Check out the video and let us know what you think of the aiming and cover systems.

Bodycount's Creative Director Talks About Lack of Campaign Co-Op

It was not that long ago that Codemasters announced that they are working on a new FPS IP, dubbed Bodycount, that is set to be the "spiritual successor" to the FPS shootout glory that was Black.  Fortunately, this successor will include a co-op mode, though that is just one of several improvements that Stuart Black, the creative director behind both games, plans on implementing.  Joystiq recently spoke with Stuart about what players can expect from Bodycount, including how the game's going to be structured like seasons from a TV show, and why co-op fans won't be able to play the full story campaign with their friends.
