First it was coming, then it wasn't, and now it's finally here. The Playstation 3 version of Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 releases today. Dubbed the Ultimate Edition, this version of the game, previously available for Xbox 360 and PC, features enhanced graphics and new content. You can buy the game from Amazon at a light discount by clicking on the image above, which features significantly more booty than the boxart for previous versions of the game.
After a few ups and downs, possible cancellations, and everything else - Red Alert 3 has finally come to the PlayStation 3. The game, titled Red Alert 3: Ultimate Edition, releases next week; but you can get your hands on a demo this weekend on the PlayStation Store.
Previously, the Playstation 3 version of real-time strategy title Red Alert 3 was put on "indefinite hold" by Electronic Arts. In November, it was revealed that a potential Playstation 3 version was in the works, and would include special features not seen on any other platform.
We take EA's ambitious Red Alert sequel for a spin on both the Xbox 360 and PC. The RTS supports 2 player co-op throughout it's entire campaign. But is co-op, Hollywood actors and cleavage enough for the latest in the series?
Nick and Mike both talked about Red Alert 3 on the latest podcast, and we have some news for co-opers who own the PC version of that game. A patch is now available, taking the game to version 1.05. Besides your standard bug fixes adn balance tweaks, one item of interest to Co-Optimus readers has been added: a lobby is now available for the online co-op mode.
Wanna try your hands on the co-op RTS Red Alert 3. The PC version has been out for sometime now, with the 360 version being a few weeks old. Those of you wanting to give it a spin on Microsoft's console are in luck, as a demo is out and now available to Xbox Live Goooooold members.
That's the question EA wants to know. While nothing is set in stone yet, EA is toiling with the idea of having seperate expansions for the game that are specific to what a player wants. The idea came up for the recently released Red Alert 3, and looks like it could actually happen. Examples of this would be a single player story expansion, or a multiplayer map pack expansion, or even a co-op expansion.
Most people typically think of first person shooters when it comes to cooperative gameplay, but Electronic Arts wants to break that mold with a co-op RTS. Red Alert 3 has taken on such a task by providing a co-op experience throughout the game's entire campaign. We sat down with the game's Xbox 360 Producer Greg Kasavin to talk about the challenges of such a task.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars hits the Nintendo DS this week, and with it comes a game with a 2 player co-op mode playable via local wi-fi. Players can work together as Jedi combining powers to perform unique attacks.
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 is most notable here at Co-Optimus for its tightly integrated co-op campaign, but you must admit the celebrity involvement is unique, as well. Well known actors like Tim Curry, George Takei, and even Jenny McCarthy play characters in the game. However, even a Playmate, Star Trek's Mr. Sulu and Rocky Horror's Dr. Frank N. Furter can't hold a candle to the incredible brilliance that is David Hasslehoff. You heard that right, the Hoff. He's driven a sweet talking car, jogged in slow motion on a beach, and now he's featured in an over-the-top website promoting Red Alert 3, Conquer This Life. It's totally bizarre, done in infomercial style, and includes some hilarious bits like "Dolphin vs. Bear" and "It's Braintastic". The site is definitely worth checking out, for the sheer crazyness factor alone.
Tired of playing Co-Op First person shooters? Perhaps RPGs are boring you with a buddy? Then perhaps you'll want to give the new Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 a try.
