Face it, when you saw images of Kirby's Epic Yarn you thought it was a pretty cool concept. A world built around and taking place on yarn figures, fitting perfectly with the performance capabilities of the Wii? Yes, please! In fact, we gave Kirby's Epic Yarn a perfect general score, with a bit of room to improve in the co-op.
When it comes to classic gaming, Kirby is an icon. He hails from the days of two action buttons; the days when real substance was achieved through 8-bit graphics and MIDI music. Can his newest adventure win our hearts without resorting to the third dimension? I think you already know the answer.
Kirby's Epic Yarn was only announced at E3 2010 about four months ago, but the game is seeing the light of day already this Sunday, October 17th. The two player co-op platformer mashes a unique art style with classic platformer gameplay that reminded our own Sam Tyler of the recent Mario Bros game, minus the annoying knock your friends of the levels elements.
Kirby's Epic Yarn is one of those games that could potentially sell a Nintendo Wii to me...if I didn't already have one. The truth is: I do, and this may be the ticket to getting the duster out and seeing if the Wii still works.
One might feel that platform superstar Kirby was cute, sweet, and adorable enough already, with those chubby cheeks, a pink floaty body, and oversized red feet. But, Nintendo has gone and recreated him in yarn form, which pretty much gives Kirby the "awwwww!" power of a hundred puppies. For co-op fans, though, Kirby's Epic Yarn is something to look forward to not just for cuteness, but for two player co-op!
