Overwatch's Halloween Co-Op Event Is Back
It's that time of year again. The leaves are starting to fall, comfy sweaters are back in fashion, and good ol' Dr. Junkenstein is up to something he probably shouldn't be.

Last year, Blizzard released the limited time co-op "Uprising" event for Overwatch. We had mixed feelings on the matter so we were a bit skeptical when it was recently announced that a new limited time co-op event, "Retribution," would be arriving this month. Turns out Blizzard really did learn some lessons from the last go around and this new event has some good hooks in it for all you co-op enthusiasts out there.
Last year, Blizzard started something new with their popular team-based shooter, Overwatch: limited time co-op missions that represent defining "story" moments for the characters within the game. Dubbed "Overwatch Archives," the first of these was the "Uprising" event last April that took players through Tracer's first mission as a part of the group. A new event, called "Retribution," kicks off today and takes players through the mission that marked the beginning of the end for the peacekeeping group.
While the co-op offerings may be limited to just bot matches, you can check out Overwatch for yourself this weekend if you're looking for something to do with friends. Starting now and running until 11:59 pm PDT Monday, September 25, download the title on PC, Xbox One, or PlayStation 4, and enjoy the team-based shooter that took 2016 by storm.
Overwatch has added a limited time co-op mode called "Uprising." The mode is a co-op arcade event that features wave-based, defend a point, style gameplay for four players. You'll be tasked with defeating the nefarious Null Sector using Tracer, Torbjörn, Mercy, and Reinhardt in the default mode. An "All Heroes" mode allows you to choose any character.
For a scant few weeks, Overwatch players can relive the magic of wave-based co-op shooters. Following community feedback, which expressed a desire for both lore-specific seasonal events and co-op gameplay, Blizzard delivered the Uprising event.
Hey let's all have a great 2017 with a new map in Overwatch! At least, that's what I'm guessing Blizzard was thinking?
No major U.S. holiday could possibly pass by without video games celebrating it in their own way. Overwatch has tossed their Santa hat into the ring with the "Winter Wonderland" event that lasts until January 2.
This past summer, Blizzard added a limited time event to their team-based shooter, Overwatch, that was inspired by the ever-popular Rocket League. The event was a way to celebrate the Summer Olympics and even featured new skins, sprays, and other items to collect. They've got a similar celebration underway for Halloween only this time, the new mode is a Horde mode based event.
If you and your co-op crew have been wrecking some bots in Blizzard's Overwatch thanks to Torbjörn's impressive turrets, that might change. On the consoles, at least.
Overwatch came out early last month and was an instant hit for Blizzard. Combining colorful and fun to play characters with Team Fortress 2 style objective gameplay in a 5 vs 5 team setting instantly hooked players. For folks not wanting to jump into the competitive options, Blizzard created a dedicated co-op mode against the AI. It's basically comp-stomp co-op but it's a good way to practice playing characters.
