The twin stick cave-flyer gets some tweaks and improvements

Retrobooster Gets an Update, On Sale Now

You may remember a little indie title we've talked about here before called Retrobooster. While the co-op aspects may not have been everything we were quite looking for, the game itself is a solid twin-stick shooter/cave-flyer. The developer, Terry Welsh, once worked for NASA on some of their simulators and that background definitely shows in the game's controls. It's well worth a play and not only can you get the 1.1 version now, you can also get it on sale for the next couple days.

Retrobooster Update Brings Shared Co-Op Scores

The last we heard of the physics-based co-op space shooter Retrobooster, developer Terry Welsh was sharing with us how implementing cooperative gameplay, in what had begun and was intended to be a single player game, changed his perspective on things. Those cooperative elements are still having an influence as testing of the game has progressed and lead Terry to release one of the biggest updates to the game yet.

Developer Terry Welsh shares how co-op changed his game, Retrobooster

Indie-Ana Co-Op and the Dev Stories - A New Perspective

This confession should come first: I seriously considered making Retrobooster only a single player experience when I started it. As a solo developer, more game modes sounded daunting. Fortunately, all the complaints from friends and my memories of co-op and melee games were too much to bear. In fact, the multiplayer modes in Retrobooster were origi...

Developer Terry Welsh provides a little insight into what goes into his game

Retrobooser Gameplay Video with Developer Commentary

Late last year we sat down with Terry Welsh, the one man development team of Really Slick, to talk about his retro cave shooter, Retrobooster. The game places you in the shoes of a pilot (or pilots, if playing cooperatively) who's the last best hop to fight off the horde of invading aliens and save the galaxy. This isn't your typical twin-stick shooter, though, as Terry's worked hard to get the physics behind your space flight just right. That means Newton's First Law of Motion is in full effect as you'll be having to balance your thrust and propulsion to avoid running into everything. He's the right man for the job, too, as he once worked at NASA constructing flight simulators.
