THQ Nordic is continuing to revive the properties of game's past with the release of SpellForce 3 today. The third entry in the SpellForce series, the title mixes up RPG character progression in the form of hero characters with RTS resource and army management. Nick and Jason took it for a spin Monday night to show off the ins-and-outs of its co-op.

Spellforce, the longtime RTS/RPG franchise, has had a third title in the works for some time now.  When we last heard word of the latest sequel, it was said to be heading for a 2016 release.  That's obviously not the case, but regardless, developer Grimlore Games has been hard at work making what will hopefully be a worthy entry in Spellforce 3.

Longtime PC gamers may recall the SpellForce series. The first game, Order of Dawn, was released in 2004 and the second, Shadow Wars, debuted in 2006. After a long hiatus, SpellForce 3 will see a release sometime later this year.
