In March of last year, n-Space, the developer behind Sword Coast Legends, was shut down. The game, though, continued on and even got released on consoles a few months later. Presumably, it was the publisher, Digital Extremes that keep things going. Now, though, it seems that that particular publishing contract has expired and so, on December 31, the title will be removed from all digital store fronts.
It was always the plan for Digital Extremes' D&D inspired RPG Sword Coast Legends to make its way to the consoles, and that date has finally arrived. Ok, it actually arrived last week, but we can celebrate it nonetheless.
Good news for all you Sword Coast Legends players out there. The free DLC, Rage of Demons, is now available on the PC. You shouldn't have to do anything special in order to access this content, it should just be added automatically. Anyone playing the title on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can look forward to this content later this year.
The console version of Sword Coast Legends, the latest attempt by developers to create a Dungeons and Dragon experience in video game format, will be arriving sometime this spring. The title first saw release on the PC last October and has received a fair amount of content in that time, all of which will be included in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.
Sword Coast Legends, released back in October, is an attempt by developers Digital Extremes and n-Space to hearken back to the days of yore. A time when CRPGs were (sort of) turn-based, loot littered the ground like candy wrappers on a street after Halloween, and just about any Tom, Dick, and Harry could claim their right to be heroes of legend.
We've been looking forward to the D&D-based RPG Sword Coast Legends for sometime now. While we're still putting it through its paces for our co-op review, the development team is already working on additional content, updates, and addressing concerns expressed by the community.
Sword Coast Legends is out in just a few days on PC, the D&D based game is a classic RPG in every sense. But there's something Sword Coast Legends offers that we haven't seen to this level before, and that's the ability to have a live DM play alongside a party of four players.
The PC version of Sword Coast Legends arrives next week, and I'm getting kind of excited for the prospects of what the game could be. Namely, a way to conduct an entire D&D campaign (complete with DM) for a group of friends using familiar cRPG mechanics. Look, sometimes a life spent on the Sword Coast ain't easy. Let's say, for example, that you're a poor, innocent innkeeper beset by marauding goblins. You say, "Hey, goblins, what's up?", and they say, "Get lost, nerd." You say, "Please stop attacking my inn", and they say, "Shut up, you're not our mom." It's really frustrating, because not only are these goblins looting your storerooms, they're also being real jerks about the whole situation.
The bad news here is that n-Space's forthcoming D&D-styled RPG, Sword Coast Legends, is getting delayed across the board. The PC, Mac, and Linux versions won't arrive until October 20, and sometime Q1 2016 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. The good news (for PC players) is that if you've already pre-ordered the game or do so now, you can play it this weekend.
Sword Coast Legends saw a recent delay, but those that pre-ordered the upcoming D&D RPG will be able to obtain early access on the PC. Starting September 11th those who ordered via Steam and the Official website should be able to dig into the game with access to multiplayer content and a few of the built in tools with the single player access coming towards the end.
You would never think that your best friend, your compatriot who has been with you through thick and thin, would suddenly turn on you and kill you; until they suddenly do. Perhaps their actions are not of their own design, however. Perhaps the terrible Mind Flayer has enthralled them. This is but one of the foes you will face in Sword Coast Legends next month.
