Come on and grab your friends, because a new Adventure Time title, made by the same team who developed Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage? last year, will be here within a few months! With a Diablo-ish feel, players will team up with Finn, Jake, and crew to storm a dungeon of evil beings in Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!.
According to the developers, WayForward Technology, this dungeon crawler was specifically inspired by the Diablo franchise to bring true, epic adventuring that the beloved TV show is based around. Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! allows for up to four players to team up in traversing dozens of 3D dungeon levels. While plot of the game, in short, goes like a normal Adventure Time episode would, Princess Bubblegum used to contain many of the dangerous creatures from Ooo in a secret royal dungeon, which has suddenly been compromised. With hundreds of enemies mysteriously escaping their underground prison, Bubblegum tasks Finn and Jake to discover the reason behind the occurrence. Producer Aaron Blean discussed his old-school vision of the game with much passion:
'Where the first game was strictly a side-scrolling adventure game with a top-down mini-map, kind of like a Zelda 2, this is more of a top-down three-quarter perspective Diablo/Gauntlet-style game. But instead of having this super hardcore 100 hour RPG where you have to min-max everything, we just wanted it to be fun. We also wanted it to have enough meat there so if you were that type of gamer, you could still play it and have the fun you want.'

So far, the first four playable characters that are confirmed consist of Jake, Finn, Marceline, and Cinnamon Bun (interesting choice considering the diverse cast of the TV show!), but others will be revealed later on down the road. Much like any other Action RPG, each character will have their own unique stats and abilities from one another, requiring that all members to use solid teamwork to succeed. These attributes can be altered through various game tokens collected throughout the 100 rooms of the dungeon.
For examples: Marceline’s trademark hunger for “red” things allows her to absorb red projectiles to defend the team, and Cinnamon Bun is a beefy character with that huge dough body of his, acting as the “tank” class. In addition to these attributes, each character has an “Imagination Meter”, which is gradually filled to unleash a special super attack. As Game Director, Tomm Hulett, explains the character traits:
We've got characters who are tanks, we've got a character who shoots projectiles, we've got melee characters and wizard-like characters, and if you play Diablo a lot you will able to spot it — you'll see the strategy and get it right away. But if you're not into that, you can just get in there and have fun with Adventure Time.
Look out for Adventure Time: Explore The Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! coming this fall to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Windows PC and 3DS.
