Nordic Games must really have a thing against the forces of darkness. Painkiller: Hell and Damnation received its sixth DLC, Demonic Vacation at the Blood Sea, available for download on Steam for $6.99. I wouldn't be super into a demonic vacation in general, much less if my day job was murdering thousands of demons with holy-powered weapons and ordained explosives. That image does conjure up some ideas about surfing devils and skeletons in Haiwaiian shirts. Alas, that reality was not to be.
Blood Sea adds three more gore-soaked single player/co-op story missions to the main game, where Daniel will run amok with his completely insane weapons and make modern art with demon blood. You and your buddy can team up and eviscerate new enemies, like soldiers from the ancient world, long-dead Conquistadores, and of course, gimps. What game these days doesn't have you, gunning down and slicing up people in bondage gear? The new maps feature picturesque seaside themes: Monastery, Docks, and Ruins. The "ruins" map features one of those tried and true Painkiller giant boss fights; this time against a colossal sea monster.
I assume his parents were Poseidon and a particularly ugly ship.
There are other nautically-themed elements to Blood Sea that are just begging to be explored, and I hope this isn't the last DLC we catch. Nordic Games has done a great job showing post-release love for Painkiller, supporting it even a year after launch. So long as they're willing to keep throwing horrific monstrosities which I might reduce to chunks of demon tartare, I'll keep throwing my money at them.
