We were extremely disappointed with Takedown: Red Sabre when we reviewed it last fall on the PC; however, developer Serellan and publisher 505 Games have been trying to make things right since then. They've deployed extra free copies to owners, AI improvements, and multiple patches and free DLCs.
Many of their improvements have directly targeted (or attempted to target, at least) most of our core complaints with the game on launch, such as awful connectivity problems and quite bad AI. The game has certainly improved since our review, though we haven't yet officially taken another look at it in its current state.
If Takedown: Red Sabre was a game that you were interested in, yet the news of its rocky launch didn't quite feel worth the standard $15, then you might want to take a gander at its ludicrously low price this week on Steam. At a 90% discount, you can nab Takedown for $1.49, or a 4-pack for $4.50. The sale runs until February 17th.
