Ghostbuster games have a long and arduous history. From their days on the Atari up until the most recent iterations, it's been quite some time since we've seen a new game. So when a small developer named Zootfly released footage onto the unsuspecting masses of YouTube in 2006 - the internet and fans erupted. This was the game everyone wanted.
Unfortunately Zootfly didn't own the rights, Sony did, and they quickly removed the videos. Coincidently, Terminal Reality was just about to green light a similar project, and thanks to the buzz created by the video it was a very easy sale.
The game's journey didn't end there. Publisher sales and acquisitions, misstepped promo items and more all have made this Ghostbusters game one of the most anticipated and rocky franchise games in some time.
The full history of this four player co-op title is available at ArsTechnica and definitely worth a read for fans. There's even some slime inducing new screenshots.
