Vertical Drop Heroes HD Launches Tomorrow on GOG

A Flash favorite gets an update and some co-op love

The world of Flash games is an interesting place. Some of our favorite games and developers over the past several years came from that world, such as Castle Crashers and BattleBlock Theater developer Behemoth. Tomorrow, another Flash game is making that transition from web-browser only to full PC title: Vertical Drop Heroes HD.

Vertical Drop Heroes HD places you into the shoes of a hero of your choosing who utilizes weapons and special abilities you've acquired in previous playthroughs of the game. There's a little feeling of Rogue Legacy to it mixed in with Castle Crashers. Unlike those games, however, Vertical Drop Heroes HD see the action unfolding vertically as you drop your way to the bottom of each level - picking up money with which to buy upgrades, freeing temporary allies, and battling foes - in order to proceed to the next stage.

On the co-op side of things, players can team up locally on the same machine, or join up via LAN to tackle the foes and levels together.

We'll have our review as well as an interview with the developer later in the week. If you're interested in checking out the game before then, the game's available for pre-release for just $5 on the Nerdook website, and will be more widely released through GOG.com tomorrow.
