The full PAX East Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel gameplay demo with narration by developers at 2K Australia and Gearbox was posted on the Borderlands' YouTube account today. In the 16 minutes of gameplay we are shown new features, locations, characters, and vehicles as two players on Pandora's moon try to get back to a space station.
One of the largest additions to the game is oxygen. Since there's no atmosphere on the moon, players must manage their oxygen reserves, but oxygen is not without its own set of perks. Players can use o2 to their advantage; by venting oxygen during a jump, you can get a boost, a sort of double jump, to go higher and cover more ground. From a double jump you can also slam to the ground damaging any enemies that happen to be near by. When combining the slam with the new cyro ice elemental guns, you can shatter frozen enemies in a pinch.
When on the moon's surface, fire attacks won't do much for you. No atmosphere? No one's gonna burn. But on the flip side they'll work wonders when in areas with oxygen, such as O2 bubbles or certain structures.
A new skill for Athena, one of the playable characters (and NPC from Borderlands DLC), is the Aspis shield. By absorbing enemy attacks (or friendly fire) you can charge the shield and release it back at enemies for serious damage.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launches on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC this fall.
