On a warm September day in Chicago, I was invited to the SteelSeries office to check out their new product lineup for the 2014 holiday. What awaited me were four new Siberia models, each of them completely updated since the days of the v2, and every one ready for my listening pleasure.
Siberia v3With completely new audio drivers, the v3 provides an even richer sound experience than the v2, without sacrificing on aesthetics or comfort. The space around the ear is slightly bigger, barely noticeable to the touch, but your ears will hear the difference. The larger space provides for better acoustics, and when I sampled them in the office I truly felt as if I was inside a professional studio or decked out concert hall, listening to music on full high quality speakers. With a 3.5mm audio jack, the v3 can be used on PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One (with Microsoft’s adapter) and mobile devices. The Siberia v3 is currently available for pre order at $99.99, and is expected to release in October.
Siberia v3 PrismIn the days of the v2, you had to pick a color and lock it down if you wanted your headset to glow. Now, with the v3 Prism, you have 16.8 million options to choose from – so I hope you’re not indecisive. The v3 Prism ditches the on-line volume and mute controllers that many players ignored. Instead, these options are right on your headset, which means less bulk on you cord. Also compatible with SteelSeries Engine 3, you’ll be able to customize your audio and illumination settings depending on what apps or games you’re running. The v3 Prism is PC and Mac only, and is available for pre order now at $139.99.
Siberia Elite PrismThe new Siberia Elite takes everything you loved about the original and makes it even better. A thinner microphone arm lets you bend and retract on your own terms, and the mic itself cancels annoying background noise. The ear cushions have been tightened just a hair to provide for a more comfortable feel overall. The Elite Prism also includes Dolby Headphone and Dolby Pro Logic IIx to deliver virtual 7.1-channel surround sound. Just like the v3 Prism, the Elite Prism includes 16.8 million customizable illumination options, and is compatible with SteelSeries Engine 3 to create different profiles for specifics programs or games. The Elite Prism includes an attachable adapter for PC, Mac, PS4, and mobile devices, and is available now for $199.99. Check out our full impressions of the Elite Prism.
Siberia RAW PrismUntil today, if anyone wanted in on the Siberia experience they’d have to part ways with about $100. The new RAW Prism changes that, and brings entry-level sound to a wider audience. The RAW Prism offers the same comfort and design you’d expect from a SteelSeries Siberia headset, but suits the needs of a more casual consumer with a price point of $59.99. Though much cheaper than the other tiers in the Siberia family, the RAW Prism is not to be overlooked. With 16.8 million color options, a built in mic, and impressive sound card stats, the RAW Prism makes itself a worthy contender for its price range - and you can grab it now for your PC, Mac, or PS4.
