Lost Planet 2 Officially Announced with 4 Player Co-Op, First Screens

After Mondays top secret announcement trailer, Capcom has finally come clean on the details of Lost Planet 2 as well as released the first official screenshots.

Like the original, the game is going to be an Xbox 360 exclusive title.  It was only later we saw the game on the PC and PlayStation 3 - no word on whether that'll happen with the new game.  The story takes place 10 years after the original game and allows players to customize their heroes.  The original "anchor" ability makes a return as well as new abilities that help focus on the games new tactical approach.

Lost Planet 2 is set to support 4 player online co-op.  It's unclear as to whether or not the co-op takes place through the game's story, or whether these are merely co-op missions.  From the press release:

Lost Planet 2 is loaded with one the most extensive multiplayer campaign seen in a shooter to date. The intense and action packed campaign mode comes with the ability to form teams of up to 4 players online to clear mission objectives with friends.

Capcom also notes that this mode was one of the most request features thanks to community feedback.  If you read our recent Resident Evil 5 interview, you'll know that Capcom is going to continue with a strong focus on co-op, and an announcement like this just reaffirms it.
