The action/tower defense game Protect Me Knight is back with a sequel! Only it's not called Protect Me Knight 2, it's called Gotta Protectors, which sounds much more, I don't know, active? Either way, the sugary sweet retro game will be ready to grace the Nintendo 3DS eShop on July 21.
There are only two things to keep in mind while playing Gotta Protectors: protect the princess, and defeat your enemies. Preferably in that order. The game features six unique classes, ranging from the standard "fighter" to the less-than-standard "old guy". Each class has a different set of attacks and control style, allowing you to dive in and get your hands dirty with melee combat, eliminate baddies from afar using magic, or even build barricades to be all tactical and stuff.
Co-op is pretty crazy in Gotta Protectors. The standard single player mode expands quite neatly with up to four local players, giving you more brainpower and more fighters to use against the onslaught of pixellated foes. You can also create custom maps and share them via QR code. And the music? Yeah, a handful of the best composers from the '80s make a return for this game, including Hiroshi Kawaguchi (Space Harrier), Yuzo Koshiro (Streets of Rage), and Motoaki furukawa (Gladius II, Castlevania). Hype level up, right?
Gotta Protectors will release on the Nintendo 3DS eShop July 21st. It supports four player local co-op.
