Crackdown 3 Pushed into 2018

Microsoft is delaying the release of Crackdown 3 on the Xbox One and PC from Nov. 7, 2017 to spring 2018, the company told Polygon in an official email. The game was revealed at E3 2014 but has since been mostly a no-show to the gaming public. Many were worried about the state of the game, and it looks like that includes publisher Microsoft.

“We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date, However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. Gamers can expect Crackdown 3 in Spring of 2018.”

-Shannon Loftis, Microsoft Studios Publishing General Manager

Microsoft was targeting this game to be a "launch" title with their Xbox One X console, but it looks like it's just not in the cards. The last Crackdown game, Crackdown 2 was released in 2010 on the XBox 360. When Crackdown 3 releases next year it'll support four player online co-op through the campaign.
