This past July, Trendy Entertainment dropped some new DLC ("Protean Shift") for their free-to-play tower-defense/third-person action title, Dungeon Defenders II. There have been a couple of updates since then - notably the one last month that increased the rewards received when playing with additional players - and last week, there was a hotfix that refined that system even further. Now, playing with additional players not only gets you more experience, but guaranteed better gear.
Adding better rewards for playing with other people was initially done in response to community feedback as players noted that the difficulty increased based on the number of players, but not the rewards. So the initial solution was to just increase the rewards received. This was good, but according to the players, it resulted in a ton of worthless loot. In comes hotfix 3.2.2! With this refinement, players are now guaranteed legendary gear, with changes for additional ones to drop, and they'll also receive an experience boost. Here's how it breaks down:
Two Players: Two additional legendaries guaranteed, with a chance at a third, and 33% additional experience points Three Players: Four additional legendaries guaranteed, with a chance at a fifth, and 66% additional experience points Four Players: Six additional legendaries guaranteed, with a chance at a seventh, and 99% additional experience pointsIt's worth noting that these changes do not apply to the Campaign or Adventure modes of the game.
Dungeon Defenders II is currently available on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Four player online co-op is available in a variety of modes throughout the game.
