Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite Now Available in Borderlands 3

Play for free on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this weekend

The latest patch/content update has arrived for Borderlands 3, and it brings with it a new four player co-op mission ("Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite"), a new Mayhem Mode level (level 4), an expansion to the bank, dedicated loot pools for bosses, and a variety of tweaks/balance changes.

The full breakdown can be found on the official site, but here are a few, quick, "big ticket" items:

Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite - unlike the Halloween-themed event, this new activity is a permanent fixture of Borderlands 3 so you and your buddies can play it whenever. The mission itself is kind of like a raid within the confines of Borderlands 3 as all the enemies are at level 50 and the encounters in the mission are designed around having a full co-op crew. Public matchmaking is supported, fortunately, if you don't have enough friends to fill the spots. There are unique rewards from this activity and Gearbox has said it will probably take "30 - 45 minutes to complete." You must complete the main campaign to unlock this activity, and it is recommended to be level 50.
  Mayhem 4 - a new difficulty level has been added that further increases enemy health and damage alongside loot drop rates. Interestingly, though, as enemy health is increased to such a high amount, the modifiers for this mode are limited; one positive for the player, and one positive for the enemy. Playing on this difficulty also adds new Legendaries to the game.
  Bank Size Increase - the current limit on your bank is 50 spaces, which if you've gone around collecting any amount of loot you know is not enough, particularly when you start playing multiple characters. With this patch, the limit is increased to 300. If you've already purchased all the SDUs available and hit the max of 50, you'll find that it's been increased to 100 and 10 new SDUs to purchase from Marcus to get it the rest of the way to 300.

For all you folks out there that are curious about trying Borderlands 3, it's currently available for free on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This will only last until Sunday, November 24, although the game is on sale during this time if you wanted to pick it up at a discount.

Borderlands 3 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The PC version supports four player online co-op, or four player LAN co-op. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions support four player online co-op, four player couch co-op, or a mix of the two (i.e., two couch co-op players can join others online).
