MultiVersus Now Available in Early Access, Goes Free to Play on July 26

Form your own WB dream team and pummel computer players together.

There once was a movie called Space Jam: A New Legacy that combined numerous Warner Bros. characters and properties. It's a very bad movie that should be avoided at all costs! However, the idea of mixing WB properties together clearly has some appeal, hence the new Smash Bros.-style fighting game, MultiVersus. Players who buy any premium edition of MultiVersus can play it right now, but the game will officially launch in free to play form on July 26.

MultiVersus supports cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Additionally, players' progress and purchases carry over across platforms - just like in Fortnite. The game offers three modes: 1v1, 2v2, and 4-player free-for-all. 2v2 supports online co-op; two players can team up against an AI team. Oddly, the game lacks local multiplayer.

17 characters are playable at launch:

Batman (DC) Superman (DC) Wonder Woman (DC) Harley Quinn (DC) Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes) Arya Stark (Game of Thrones) Jake the Dog (Adventure Time) Finn the Human (Adventure Time) Steven Universe Garnet (Steven Universe) Tom and Jerry Reindog (New character) Velma (Scooby Doo) Shaggy (Scooby Doo) The Iron Giant Taz (Looney Tunes) Lebron James (Space Jam: A New Legacy, ugh)

The following maps are currently available:

The Batcave Classic 3 Platform Sky Arena Scooby’s Haunted Mansion (Scooby-Doo) Training Room Tree Fort (Adventure Time) Trophy’s E.D.G.E. Trophy’s E.D.G.E. 2

Premium versions of Multiversus include Standard Edition for $39.99, Deluxe Edition for $59.99, and Premium Edition for $99.99. These editions can be bought on Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam. A PS Plus-exclusive "MVP Pack" is also available for free. The free to play version of the game will arrive on Tuesday, July 26.
