Sabotage Studio's Sea of Stars quickly won the hearts of RPG players everywhere when it launched in August of last year. It's an incredibly beautiful game that hearkens back to the golden age of 16-bit role-playing games. How do you make such a well-liked RPG even better? By adding 3-player local co-op, it turns out! Sabotage has teased the new mode with a few details and an extremely short video that give players a hint of what to expect.
Sea of Stars features:
Engaging turn-based combat. Unshackled traversal. A story rich adventure. A world you can touch. Full-on dynamic lighting. Here are all the details we have on the upcoming co-op mode:
Dubbed "Single Player Plus," this mode allows for three players to journey together in Sea of Stars. Staying true to the game’s core turn-based roots, each player will engage in traversal and combat with a new "Co-op timed hits" mechanic as they embark with friends on Sea of Stars’ grand adventure. The new mode is currently in development and more details are set to be released soon.
I don't think that name is great for a co-op mode, but otherwise, it sounds like a cool new way to experience the game with friends and/or loved ones.
Sea of Stars sells for $34.99 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam. It's also currently available on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra, so be sure to try it now if you can't wait for co-op to come along.
