Remaking well-known games is cool, but there's something to be said for reviving cult classics as well. Forever Entertainment has dipped its toes in both ends, releasing the pretty good House of the Dead: Remake and promising Night Slashers: Remake later this year. Data East's Night Slashers might not be the most famous beat 'em up, but it's worth remembering. The remake will be even more memorable thanks to the addition of Liu Feilin, a guest character from a Data East fighting game called Fighter's History.
Feilin's description:
Liu Feilin, a renowned Chinese opera actress, is known for her exceptional talent. She entered the prestigious Great Grapple tournament, where she triumphed over the formidable opponent Karnov. This victory not only earned her international acclaim but also brought her back to Beijing as a celebrated figure.
Despite receiving numerous movie offers following her success, Feilin chose to focus on her passions and declined all invitations, stating she was not interested at the time. However, a year later, Feilin received another invitation to the Great Grapple tournament. This time, she decided to document the entire journey, starring in a film that chronicles her experiences in the competition.
This new character joins the three original heroes from the arcade game: Jake Hunter, Christopher Smith, and Hong Hua Zhao. It could be argued that Feilin's design resembles that of Hong Hua Zhao a little too closely, but it's still cool that the remake will feature an extra fighter. The remake will support 4-player local co-op, and now we know the roster of four.
