NatsumeAtari (the modern form of Natsume) and Tengo Project, its interior development team, have released some impressive sequels and remakes of classic games in recent years Pocky & Rocky Reshrined, The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors, and Wild Guns Reloaded. We'll soon be able to add another game to the list thanks to Shadow of the Ninja Reborn, a remake of Shadow of the Ninja. Reborn will arrive on all platforms in August.
NES version
The original Shadow of the Ninja (called Blue Shadow in Europe and The Dark operative: Kage in Japan) is an action platformer in which two ninjas work to overthrow the evil Emperor Garuda. Players can run, jump, hang from ceilings, and attack with katanas and other weapons in true ninja style. Both characters play identically, but the co-op support was still pretty special at the time of the game's release in 1990.
Shadow of the Ninja Reborn features:
An Arsenal of Deadly Weapons: Caltrops, shuriken, and more! Departing from the NES original, Hayate and Kaede will have an expanded variety of weaponry!
Jungle of Concrete and Steel: 5 completely recreated stages featuring devious traps and challenging platform puzzles. Plus, a 6th entirely new stage!
Two Ninjas are Better Than One: Grab a friend and get ready for the critically acclaimed couch co-op!
A Fresh New Look: Beautiful modern in-game sprite art as a faithful update to the 8-bit original!
Bringin’ It Back to the 90s: Feast your eyes on the key visuals and characters illustrated by Dynamic Productions, the same remarkable illustrators of the original 90s title!
The new version has received a significant visual upgrade; it looks amazing! The same stages (plus a new one), but everything is now overflowing with detail and color. The bosses are based on the originals but seem to have been significantly revamped. You'd be hard pressed to find another 2D platformer with pixel art this good.
Shadow of the Ninja Reborn will arrive on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam on August 29. We're looking forward to this one!
