While The Behemoth is best known for their Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers franchises, once upon a time, the studio made a really unique platformer called BattleBlock Theater. Well, the Steam version of BattleBlock Theater is getting a nice update soon. That's really cool, but even better, the game will be coming to modern consoles as well!
The BattleBlock Theater Steam update will feature:
Enhanced rendering – no more crunchy compression and much higher resolution! Lightning fast frame rates, limited only by your monitor’s capability! Higher audio bitrates for delicious sound. Various bug fixes and overall enhancements! Support for more controller types. In BattleBlock Theater, a ship led by Hattie Hattington has crashed upon a mysterious island. There, the ship's passengers are captured and made to participate in deadly challenges. The campaign consists of numerous tough platforming levels. Co-op players can throw or help each other climb up in order to navigate the perilous stages. The game also has a level editor for creating and sharing custom levels.
Along with the announcement of an upcoming Steam update for BattleBlock Theater, The Behemoth stated that the game will be coming to modern consoles as well! The Xbox 360 version is already backwards compatible on Xbox One and Series S|X consoles, but a proper modern version for all the new systems will be even better.
The BattleBlock Theater news came along side several more announcements from the Behemoth: Castle Crashers is getting new DLC on Steam, and Alien Hominid Invasion is heading to PlayStation. Oh, and Pit People will be getting a Steam update as well. No release date was announced for any of the new ports, updates, or DLC.
BattleBlock Theater sells for $14.99 on Steam.
