Even though we haven't covered Killing Floor 3 all that much, please don't mistake that for a lack of enthusiasm. Killing Floor 2 is one of my all-time favorite co-op shooters, and I thought the Killing Floor 3 closed beta was pretty terrific. Some other players must've had a different impression, however, providing lots of constructive criticism to Tripwire, the series developer. Hence, Killing Floor 3 has been delayed from its original March 25 release date to a nebulous "later in 2025" release window. Darn it!
Tripwire issued the following statement:
The reasoning is understandable, I guess! Tripwire wants Killing Floor 3 to receive the best possible reception. I'm sure the user interface could indeed be better than what we've seen in the beta and Killing Floor 2. The plan to allow class and characters to be selected independently (more in line with the previous game) is good too, even if that change won't be ready for the actual launch.
As for my experience with the beta, I played as a ninja who starts with a katana and throwing stars. He can buy kunai throwing knives as well. These things I just told you already make Killing Floor 3 the best game ever, and it's not even out yet! Oh, the graphics and blood effects are also appropriately upgraded over those of the previous game, and the new monsters (such as a thing whose head shoots up from a long mechanical spine) and the new boss we encountered are cool too.
Alas, we'll have to wait a bit longer for Killing Floor 3, which will arrive on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic sometime later this year. Son of a gun!
