As much as I enjoyed undertaking 4 player co-op assassinations in Tenchu Z, it had more flaws than a Dubai super skyscraper. Assassin's Creed 2 is the current leader in the silent, but deadly, genre of the stealth 'em up, but it was a solidly solo experience. Great news; latest rumors suggest that a new game in the franchise (let us call it Assassin's Creed 3) will have a co-op mode.
Over at Vg247 they report news of a recent Ubisoft's Q3 investor call about the Assassin's Creed franchise where they mention:
"The general rule for new releases is that each will contain cooperative multiplayer."
What this means is yet unknown; a full co-op campaign, or an additional co-op mode? The third game in the series will continue with the story of Ezio as he moves against Rome. Let's hope that the new game will allow two or more assassins to take on the Templars, because you know what they say; it is better to take four wrist mounted daggers into a fight, than it is to take two wrist mounted daggers into a fight!
