Xbox's Major Nelson Eliminates 900 of Your Potential Friends

The Xbox LIVE community lost its collective crap when an Xbox Germany Facebook announcement alluded to increasing the Friends cap from 100 to 1000.  By alluded to, I mean stated via Google Translation:

A lot of long-term change was desired by Xbox LIVE users the limit of 100 friends. With the update you can now up to 1,000 friends of your friends list. How many friends do you have? Not enough? Then you looking for new friends on the Finder tab!

Now before you get all excited about having an extra 990 people you don't really game with on your Friends list, Major Nelson has already nixed the idea.

It was as if millions of voices (or 900 friends) cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.  He took to the tweet-waves to exterminate the rumor with extreme prejudice:

Let me straighten things out: We will not be expanding the friends list as a part of the next Xbox LIVE Update.

Of course, a savvy reader just might notice that he said 'the next Xbox LIVE Update.'  So one could assume that the friends list might be expanded to 1000 as a part of the next next update.  If one were so inclined. But that would be irresponsible speculation.  Now if we predict a million, that's just reckless abandon!  I'm all for having great co-op partners, competitive nemesi...nemeses--enemies, and so forth, but I can't even think of a thousand people I don't talk to anymore, and I write people off after I don't hear from them for a week.

I think it is obvious that there are no plans to expand the Xbox Live Friends list anytime soon.

What does the Co-Optimus community think?  How many of you are at the 100 friend cap?  How many of you think 1000 is ridiculous?  How many think 1000 is spot on?
