Over a year ago we brought you news of Spelunker HD, the umpteenth re-release or re-imaging of the original Spelunker. This game has been available in Japan for some time (over a year), so it's nice that it is finally making it stateside. If you do not know what the word 'spelunker' means, do yourself a favor and ask the most mature, kind-hearted person you can find. Do not ask me, for I am neither mature nor kind-hearted, and whatever you do, do not consult the Urban Dictionary, to which I have linked for some reason. Don't do it.
Spelunker HD features a visual overhaul, supports six player online co-op, and is exclusive to the PlayStation Network. You and five friends can go spelunking together, or you can spelunk alone. Always bring the proper equipment whenever spelunking, for your safety and the safety of others. Just watch out for the ghosts of fallen spelunkers. Remember, when you spelunk a cave, you are not only spelunking that cave, your are spelunking everyone else who has spelunked that cave, too.
Check out the two trailers. They both feature the same footage, it's just that one has more Japanese yelling, making it better by American internet standards.
Ho-hum.
Oh, hell yeah! I don't know what it's saying, but for some reason I want to run an obstacle course in a chicken suit! I now find cartoons unquestionably sexy!
Did I forget to warn you about the music? Yeah, that just happened. Good luck getting that song out of your head. Go listen to an hour of Black Eyed Peas or Ke$ha to wash the sound out. Of course, then you're stuck with a Black Eyed Peas or Ke-a dollar sign? Really?-ha song in your head. You may as well kill yourself and get it over with. (Please don't kill yourself. Unless you're evil. If you're evil, then go ahead.)
Spelunker HD looks like a quality platformer with over 100 levels in 10 different worlds. As you can see by the trailers, there is even a classic mode available. Look for it November 23rd of this year for $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.
