The MLB The Show series is a popular baseball game series for the Playstation, often praised for its high polish and eye for detail. Past installments have only included single-player and multi-player modes, but upcoming MLB 11 The Show will contain a 2-player online or offline co-op mode as well! This mode will have players on the same team where they can choose who is responsible for the different offensive and defensive areas. In the field, there are four different controllable areas players can divy up: pitcher, catcher, infield, and outfield. Pitcher can either be assigned to one player all the time or can alternate between players every inning.
At bat, batter works the same way with players being able to choose whether they want the same player batting each time or if they wish to alternate batters. In an interesting co-op twist, base-running is automatically assigned to whichever player didn't bat, encouraging true cooperation between players.
MLB 11 The Show is due out March 8, 2011 with a demo currently available on PSN.
