Serious Sam Indie Series is Co-Op Amongst Developers

Serious Sam 3: BFE has just been announced with its insane 16 player online co-op mode, but that's not the only co-op Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital are creating.  Both companies have teamed up with several independant developers to create three smaller Serious Sam titles for various platforms.

Up first, and pictured above, is Serious Sam Double D - its being created by our friends over at Mommy's Best Games who have created co-op  games Shoot 1UP and Explosionade.  The game features MBG unique hand drawn style combined with Serious Sam characters in a side scrolling shooter.  There's no word on co-op, but we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Up next is Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack! - a side scrolling "auto runner" like the game Cannanbalt.  In the game, you'll guide your group of headless kamikaze's to destroy Serious Sam.  It'll be available for mobile platforms and is being developed by Be-Rad entertainment.who created Lame Castle, which is a similar title in which you play a knight.

Finally, perhaps the most unique and out of character game for the Sam universe is Serious Sam: The Random Encounter.  The game is a turn based RPG from Vlambeer who created Super Crate Box which is an 8-bit style action platformer.

All three titles will be available in the "coming months" - but - if you're headed to PAX East you can get your hands on Serious Sam: Double D and Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack!

Bravo for Croteam and Devolver Digital for creating a truly unique way of expanding their brand and giving some exposure to some great independent developers.
