SOCOM 4: US Navy Seals is out this week on the PlayStation 3 and we've got four brand new videos to get you the goods on the game. Focusing on Music, Technology, Campaign and Kevin Butler - these videos should get you all the information you need to know about the game. Of course, one crucial piece is missing - and that's co-op - thankfully we have you covered with our preview right here.
In other SOCOM 4 news, players who want to snag a copy after launch pre-owned will be at a disadvantage. Much like EA, THQ, and now Warner Bros - Sony and Zipper have implemented a one time use code system in the box that enables special features in the game.
Called "SOCOM 4 Pro" - only buyers of the game new will have access to Pro ranked game modes, exclusive maps and two exclusive weapons - the AK-47 and M16. The Pro game modes will change over time, but here's what the game will launch with.
Community Day Classic – Suggested by members of Zipper Community Day 2011, CDC offers a medley of different maps that support 8-vs-8 “Classic” variations on Suppression, Uplink, Last Defense and Bomb Squad with faster movement and no ranged explosives of any kind Last Defense Run ‘n Gun – Our incredibly fast-paced deviation from our Last Defense gametype that includes speedier player movement, reduced weapon damage, and limitations to sub-machine guns and shotguns only SCRUM – A Suppression mod that offers a “Classic” rules-inspired list of features that includes no respawn, no Sniper Rifles, no Concussion, Poison Gas, or Frag Grenades, higher damage and faster character movement Sniper Alley – Another 8-vs-8 variation on “Classic” Suppression that boasts higher damage values and weapon restrictions that allow players access to only Smoke and Poison Gas Grenades, Shotguns, and of course, Sniper Rifles
Thankfully - if all you care about is co-op and story - you aren't affected by these pre-owned decisions.
Update: Actually, there's a brief callout in this post that says "various co-op additions" will be included in SOCOM Pro. So it turns out, Co-Op is affected, but exactly what, is unknown.
