Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, a weekly piece that talks about industry stories that may or may not be related to co-op gaming.
The stories for this week:
- BioShock Infinite E3 Demo Shown Off
- Mad Catz Moving Into 360 Game Production
- Dishonored Next Game from Arkane and Bethesda
- Civilization Worlds Now Out on Facebook
- NCAA Football 12 Major Release This Week
BioShock Infinite E3 Demo Shown Off
I will be honest and say I shook my head when a lot of online gaming sites gave this their Game of Show. Of course I didn’t know that there was a 15 minute demo shown off behind the scenes to the major players out there. This week Irrational Games decided to put that 15 minute demo online and all I can say is “Holy cow!” after watching it. The demo literally jumps me back to the first time I saw the original BioShock. The immersion shown off is incredible and it is obvious that Ken Levine has done it again just with this 15 minutes. You can see the demo below:

Mad Catz Moving Into 360 Game Production
This was an interesting thing I read. I used to work for GameShark which Mad Catz owns. It was announced this week that Mad Catz will be going into the full 360 game production business. I wonder how this will affect GameShark’s coverage of these games, they almost have to stay away from that.

Dishonored Next Game from Arkane and Bethesda
The next issue of Game Informer has Dishonored on the cover. After Arkane had been purchased by Bethesda, everyone was wondering what game they were working on. Well, now we know although we have little to go on with details. The game will be out on the 360, PS3 and PC sometime next year and it is sounding like it is an FPS shooter/stealth game set in the near future. The cover of the issue looks rather cool as well which you can see by hitting the link below.

Civilization World Now Out on Facebook
This slid in under the radar. I knew Firaxis was working on a casual Civilization game and this week Civilization World became available. I have yet to play it, but one of these days I will. I would guess the gameplay is more Civilization Revolutions (which was pretty good) than the general Civilization games on PC, but I honestly don’t know. Those who like these games and are on Facebook should probably check this out, although it is in beta.

NCAA Football 12 Major Release This Week
Outside of the co-optastic Ms. Splosion Man releasing on XBLA this week, the only major release is the yearly NCAA Football 12. Last year was the first time I skipped this game and I will probably ending up doing the same here unless I hear really good things from reviews. This used to be the best football game around because it was a highly tweaked version of the Madden from the year before. Wonder how good Ohio State will be after all the problems they’ve had.
