Good news, combo co-op fans! Sony's exclusive third-person space shooter, Starhawk will support split screen and online play! Co-Optimus community member, Kevin Clough, recently posited this question on a PlaystationBlog article concerning the nature of local and online co-op:
Can someone at Sony or Lightbox confirm whether co-op will support splitscreen and online at the same time? I want to be able to play the four player co-op mode with two copies of the game and my two PS3s.
That's a great question. Luckily for Kevin (and us) PlayStationBlog's Chuck Lacson got back to him:
Co-op will support online split-screen. :)
Huzzah! That's what we like to hear! Wait, there's more! According to the Starhawk forums the game will also support dual PlayStation Network logins, so your local co-op buddy won't get shafted on XP and character progress.
For more co-op action, check out this video from IGN at the Game Developer's Conference. The vid features some explosive co-op footage. Looks like tanks are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
Starhawk will launch exclusively on the Playstation 3 on May 8th. It supports two player local co-op, four player online co-op, and combo co-op.
Thanks to Kevin Clough for the tips!
