Bad news, everyone? Gears of War: Exile, an unannounced game lacking any details other than this header image, has been struck down by the Hammer of Dawn. It's been chainsawed to bits. It has ceased to be. Dry your tears. We first brought this "game" to your attention back in January of last year. Many speculated that the title would be an on-rails shooter utilizing the 360's Kinect peripheral.
Now when you think of a "Kinect-on-rails-shooter," does your mind conjure up an image of making gun fingers and pew-pew-pewing at the screen while hiding behind your couch? Yeah, me too. I like to get silly with my Kinect, but pantomiming a Gears of War-style firefight seems a tad bit ridiculous.
Epic's outspoken front man, Cliff Bleszinski had this to say about the project:
Let's just bury the hatchet now. Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been canceled.
Well now. I guess that's that. Exile may not have even been a Kinect game. Who knows what might have been?
