Alright Magic the Gathering fans, it is time to hole up in your painkeep and get battling with a new entry into the Duels of the Planeswalkers series. Wizards of the Coasts has announced Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, the next version of the popular card combat game which will be hitting all the regular downloadable platforms including iOS.
The popular collectable card game-turned digital card battle system is coming back for another year. Earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast announced that they would have another Duels of the Planeswalkers game that will include a new card type, Planechase, that can be used for multiplayer battles.
Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 will feature a variety of new decks and a slew of cards that you can use to add your own flavor of customization. Here are some more additions that will be included in the game:
New Decks and Challenges - Fitting that new cards would be coming with a new Magic the Gathering Game. DotP 2013 will also come with a new set of puzzle scenarios that will stump even the mightiest of wizards. Planechase Phenomenon card type with the ability to play Planechase multiplayer games. Planechase is a MTG casual variant that takes a twist on standard Magic gameplay. Optional Manual Tapping for mana: For players that are familiar with the game, the ability to tap lands manually is a great asset that will allow to choose what mana sources you want to use. New Boss: Final battle in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 is with none other than Nicol Bolas, the infamous evil mastermind who also happens to be a dragon.
This guy is not your friend, and uses only the best cards to battle.
As far as Co-Op features go, we have no details yet. It is probably safe to assume that the Archenemy mode will be back from Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012. The 3 player co-op battle was an awesome feature that pitted us against a fearsome opponent (who could also be human controlled). Perhaps the Planechase game mode will feature co-op. In any case we can't wait to get our hands on some more virtual cards and battle it out wizard style.
