Welcome to another edition of Beyond Co-Op, the weekly piece where we look at news in the game industry that transcends the co-op only genre.  Despite us being in the thick of the Fall gaming season, news has been pretty light, that said, there's definitely a few diamonds in the rough.

Here are this week's stories:

- Assassin's Creed 3 gets Evil George Washington DLC
- Retro City Rampage Gets a Release Date
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Gets Android Apps for Counting Down
- Walking Dead Episode 4 Trailer
- XCOM (the 1st person one) - gets Overhauled

Assassin's Creed 3 gets Evil George Washington DLC

Ubisoft announced a season pass would be available for Assassin's Creed 3 featuring numerous pieces o content, including a 3 part series which focuses on an "evil" George Washington.  The concept is pretty unique - what would happen if / when GW took power, he became the same tyrannical leader that he just overthrew.

Driven by the desire to secure the fate of the colonies, the greatest hero of the revolution, George Washington, succumbs to the temptation of infinite power. The new King is born and his reign leaves no one untouched. To return freedom to the land our new hero must dethrone a tyrant he once called friend.

Sounds slick.  The season pass will set you back $30.

Retro City Rampage Gets a Release Date

Retro City Rampage, a throwback to classic gaming said to be a mashup of old school GTA mixed with River City Ransom, finally has a release date.  Gamers can pick it up on the PC, VITA or PS3 on October 9th for $15.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Gets Android Apps for Counting Down

Shameless self promotion time.  I've been teaching myself Android development.  In doing so I've created a few apps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 fans who can't wait to get their hands on it.  First up is a free countdown app and second is a $0.99 Live Wallpaper that counts down till the game's release.

XCOM (the 1st person one) - gets Overhauled

I've seen the XCOM first person shooter at several E3's now, with it undergoing numerous changes each time.  It seems the game is set to get its biggest change yet as it switches to a 3rd person perspective and gets a more squad based feel.    With each successive showing of the game it looked better and better, but this is a pretty drastic change.  Perhaps...a cooperative change?
