I haven't touched my 3DS in over a year. We got it at launch, and that was pretty much the end of that. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate may force me to find the thing. Heck, I may even pick up a Wii U. This new trailer features a wide variety of play options. Gamers will be able to co-op together with both the 3DS and Wii U versions of the game.
We can see from the video that the Wii U and 3DS will offer cross platform play. I'm curious to see what kind of options will be available. Can two Wii U local split screen players play with online Wii U players? Can a Wii U connect to online players and 3DS players at the same time? Who gets stuck with a 3DS while the other player gets the Wii U? Do you draw straws or wrestle for the top spot? So many questions. We'll try to answer them before the game drops next year. For now, enjoy the video.
The video looks promising, but I wish Capcom would have shown off a little more 3DS footage. The only real gameplay visuals are from the Wii U version. I'm sure the 3DS graphics won't be as good, but I'm curious to see how much of a quality difference exists. Oh well. I'm a patient man.
The Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate supports two player local co-op and four player online co-op. The 3DS version supports four player local co-op via wireless connection. The Wii U and 3DS versions can be played cooperatively across both platforms via a local wireless connection. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be available next March.
