It's kind of hard for me to believe it, but Magicka (the quirky, and hilarious, craft-your-own-spell RPG) turns two next week. Time certainly flies. To celebrate, Paradox is offering not only a free weekend for gamers, but also free DLC for players who already own the game. During this weekend, you'll be able to download and play the game for absolutely free. It's currently available on Steam, and the free play will extend until Sunday 1pm PDT. The game is also discounted down to $2.49 from $10 until Monday.
The new DLC is entitled Free Jólnir’s Workshop, where players will be liberating the Crimson King Jólnir's winter-themed workshop. It will introduce new enemies (such as Goblin Snow Troopers and Autonomous Cannons) who will be defending the workshop tooth and nail from the wizards. And again, absolutely free and currently available on Steam.
Since its release in January of 2011, Magicka has sold 1.8 million copies. It supports 4-player online and local co-op on the PC. If you missed our review when it came out, we gave it a 4.5 out of 5, as we were quite impressed with the gameplay and fun factor.
