Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Headed to Wii U

Reconstruct Gotham one block at a time

You may have remembered in the middle of last year, June to be exact, when LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes was released. It came out for virtually every console at the time, including an Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, PC, Playstation Vita, and 3DS version. The iterations of the game that featured the most content to explore were the console versions. Well, Warner Bros. Interactive has announced that they will be releasing the same game for the Wii U this spring, at least in Europe. We expect a North American release to follow suit.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes for the Wii U will feature two player co-op like the previous versions of the game did, although the developer promises a few unique additions to entice would-be super heroes. The Wii U Gamepad will feature an enhanced map as well as an interesting new cooperative play mechanism. Two players can play co-op using both the Gamepad and TV screens. This will allow for two player co-op without the usual splitscreen mode on the TV. Of course if player two wanted, they could join in the action on the TV as well. For more information, take a look at a snippet from the official Warner Bros. Interactive press release below:

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will take advantage of the innovative Wii U™ GamePad controller. Players will navigate through Gotham City using an enhanced interactive map and select their favorite DC Comics characters to assemble a powerful team of heroes, all with the use of the controller's touchscreen. They can even enjoy the entire game experience on the GamePad in off-TV mode, or have a second player join in on the TV, so they can fight crime together without having to share a single screen.

The award-winning LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes gives players the chance to step into the shoes of the Caped Crusader and fully explore a LEGO version of Gotham City. Once again under threat from the Joker, Batman must defend Gotham with the help of powerful friends like Superman and Robin, to put a stop to the diabolical plans of his nemesis and his entire team of super villains including Lex Luthor, The Penguin and Harley Quinn. Encounter all of the Dark Knight's iconic allies and enemies in a charming, hilarious, family-friendly adventure full of exciting gameplay.

This new way to play the game could be an interesting cooperative option for those who may play on a smaller television, or perhaps simply don't want to share a screen.
