Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Available Via Games With Gold

This third person shooter features 14 different character classes with over 100 playable characters split across them (i.e., one zombie character will have different variations with some slightly different abilities). The game offers two player couch co-op, four player online co-op. and a mix of the two (combo co-op) in the Garden/Graveyard Ops (a horde mode) as well as in the different multiplayer modes where you can play against A.I. bots. It's worth noting that if you're playing with a buddy on the couch, they will need an Xbox Live Gold account in order to earn any progression or if you want to go online. The "Festive Edition" of PvZ: GW 2 actually just replaces the current version of the game across all platforms. So if you're interested in picking up the game now, then when you drop the $39.99 for the title you'll get this content automatically. If you already own the game, then you'll need to pony up $9.99 for the legendary characters, customization pack, and 200,000 PvZ coins that can be spent buying more in-game card packs

Luckily, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is attempting to stymie the constant costs of gardening with a free ten hour trial. If everything's gone according to plan, you should be able to download and enjoy the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the preview right now. PC users will have to wait until August 16th, unfortunately. Should you enjoy your time spent blasting zombie hordes, EA has slapped a hefty 50% discount on the game that lasts until the 30th, so now's a pretty dope time to get in on the action.

The new map, Zombopolis, will be used for the game's "Herbal Assault" mode, which sees the plants invading zombie territory to take control of particular areas and culminates in completing a particular objective. It is my guess that the new mini-boss battle will be the final objective for that map. As for the two new characters, the plants will get a new Citron variant (Toxic Citron) and the zombies will get a new Super Brainz variant (Breakfast Brainz).

To get things started, all you have to do is download the game from the Xbox Marketplace or PlayStation Store. PC users will need to head to Origin.com to start their trial. (Sorry, no Steam freebie.) After the trial time expires you can buy the game to hold onto unlocks, achievements, and game progress. EA Access and Origin Access members even get a 10% discount when purchasing the digital version of the game.

PvZ: Garden Warfare 2 Trailer Shows off New Maps

The latest trailer for the title goes through each of the 12 maps players will wage war across. There's the snow-covered "Great White North," the snow-covered "Frosty Creek," and the moon dust covered "Lunar Landing." I'm not sure what the other places are covered in (dust, I'm guessing, cause that stuff gets everywhere), but we'll all get a chance to find out soon enough.

Otherwise, you are going to have to work your way towards these sweet skins and also count on your luck as the boosters are randomized.

Whist playing PvZ you gained experience levels that unlocked new loot, these have been adapted to reward players in the new game. The higher your experience level was in game one, the better the reward. All the way up to Level 313 which will bag you the Legendary Unicorn Chomper:

On the plant side, we have Rose, Citron, and Kernel Corn. Rose uses sorcery to slow time and transform zombies into goats. Unfortunately we don't foresee a tie in to Goat Simulator, but anything is possible. Citron rolls into battle quickly in ball form, and employs a shield so he can stay up close and personal. Finally, Kernel Corn is your basic run and gun offensive character.
