So what's returning? The tower defense meets beat em up style gameplay is still a core focus here, but the overall story now is overlaid with a hex based strategy layer. In this layer players will explore the map looking for loot, secrets, and battles with the undead. All of the maps in the game are now procedurally generated as well making each playthrough totally unique. 

The big feature this time appears to be called The Legion system, part of Croteam's custom engine the game is built on. Legion allows the battlefield to contain "thousands of enemies" at a time. The series focus has always been about overwhelming you in combat with enemies, and this time it looks to push that to 11.

The game will feature three player couch or online co-op when its released on Steam Early access this summer. Players will choose from 20 unique heroes as they head into dungeons to collect, craft, and level up their heroes. From the initial material it sounds like cooperative play is pivotal to success.

Classes are still an important part to EDF and any co-op squad knows you need a good balance to save the planet. Iron Rain adds the Prowl Rider class.

Four player can join the chaos together as they power up their agents in online co-op. Crackdown 3 will be released on both PC and Xbox One and be available for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass at launch.

There isn't much yet about the game, other than a trailer to set the tone and a few tidbits about co-op gameplay that looks to mix action with strategy.

Players, called Slayers in Dauntless, are promised to see a world with"ever-changing, uncharted frontier, brimming with verdant flora and unique wildlife" all with the goal to destroy Behemoths. Each Behemoth has its own unique abilities and loot, so players will need to work together to overcome a unique challenge every time.
